The medal is awarded to the senior player who receives the most votes at the end of the Home & Away season. Votes are awarded by the team captain, who may seek advice or guidance from their teammates. Votes are awarded on the following basis:

• Maximum 10 votes per game

• Maximum 5 votes per player

• Maximum 5 player may receive votes in each game

If a separate one day team is fielded, a separate medal shall be awarded for that grade only.
